Where can I go to get help?
- talk to your technical colleagues about a beginners course (or ‘advanced’ if you are well into this already) on WebCT or Blackboard, or on how to use a web editor such as Microsoft FrontPage or Dreamweaver. There are also some useful guides on these last two, available from most good bookshops. I can really recommend The duffer’s guide to… /Idiot’s guide to… – I use them myself!
- your institution may already have chosen a VLE platform (like WebCT or Blackboard), and there will almost certainly be developmental events you can attend. It may also be that your institution has set up ‘practice webs’ where you can experiment and learn the rudiments.
- look out for workshops covering online learning run by institutions like Oxford Brookes or Coventry University
